Mild Hybrid or Plug-in Hybrid?
First off, the standard version of the Mazda CX-90 has a 3.0L turbocharged 6-cylinder engine. Combine that with a 48-volt electric motor (a common mild hybrid configuration) and you get performance stats that put it in line with the BMW X5 and Land Rover Range Rover Sport.
However, this impressive new territory for Mazda is but an appetizer. The real star of the show is the plug-in hybrid variant of the Mazda CX-90. It offers an incredible 323 system horsepower with a four-cylinder engine and a 17.8 kW battery. And if you’re wondering, either which way you go, you’ll get all-wheel drive standard.
2023 MAZDA CX-90 Release Date
This vehicle is expected to hit the streets in Albany and Latham sometime in early 2023. While Mazda has an incredible lineup of SUVs available for purchase right now, including the highly touted Mazda CX-5, you’ll have to custom order a Mazda CX-90 from the factory to be first in line.
